With the technology advances of today, believe it or not, the purpose of a humble sign or symbol has not changed. Take for example the symbols that were used throughout WWII and the road signs of today. In WWII students at Oslo University started wearing paperclips on their lapels as a symbol of resistance, unity, national pride and a clever way of displaying their rejection of the Nazi ideology. A symbol may have only a small significance until it gives a person hope and saves a life.

Today in Australia we use an orange sign with a black symbolic worker symbol as a way of notifying the public of workers on the road, to slow traffic and prevent a tragedy. A sign may have only a small significance until it saves a life. Road Signs Save Lives.

The smallest things can mean powerful things, like resistance against the most powerful force in the world.

Secure your construction site and prevent a tragedy!

We can talk about road safety in an impersonal way as statistics and trends, or analysing data by age, gender cause or crash type. Or we can try to understand the grief of losing a child, parent, a loved one in a car crash. It will change your life forever. The reality is that most injuries and deaths on our roads are preventable.

This is a reminder to all construction site managers to ensure that locations are adequately secured during the summer holiday period.

Tasmanina Occupational Health and Safety laws require construction sites to have adequate site security, which includes appropriate fencing and delineation throughout roadworks. Over the past five years, more than 40 infringement notices have been issued in relation to unauthorised persons accessing construction sites. Don’t add your site to the long list past offenders.

Our Risk Assessment can help identify and address the risks that an unsecured construction site can pose to road users and members of the public. Including:

  1. Fencing requirements
  2. Electrical power is off while sites are unattended
  3. Access to elevated floors, scaffolding and ladders are blocked
  4. Plant, equipment, tools, chemicals and dangerous goods are securely stored;
  5. Water drums are emptied
  6. Excavation areas such as pits, trenches and pier holes are covered
  7. Appropriate signage is erected with contact telephone numbers
  8. Site security is provided.

Time Waits for No One

Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day.

Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course?

Each of us has such a bank. It’s name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against “tomorrow.”

You must live in the present on today’s deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!

The clock is running!! Make the most of today

  • To realise the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
  • To realise the value of ONE MONTH, ask the mother of a premature child.
  • To realise the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
  • To realise the value of ONE DAY, ask a Project Manager who’s paying liquidated damages for every day past the PC date.
  • To realise the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

  • To realise the value of ONE SECOND, ask someone who just avoided an accident.
  • To realise the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal at the Olympics.

 

Treasure every moment that you have! And remember time waits for no one.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why its called the present.

If You Don’t Like Change You’ll Like Extinction Even Less

Change occurs as a process, not as an event. As much as we’d like it to be change does not happen instantaneously because there was an announcement, a kick-off meeting or even a go-live date. Individuals do not change simply because they received an email or attended a training program. When we experience change, we move from what we had known and done, through a period of transition to arrive at a desired new way of behaving and doing our job.

In Tasmania, DSG (Department of State Growth) has recently prepared new draft specification Section 708 for Steel Beam Guard Fence, Section 714 for Sign Installation and Section 709 for Guide Posts(based on VicRoads Specification).

The new Tasmania specifications will apply to all construction contracts advertised for tender after 1 August 2016.

Wow, yes, right, OK… learning a whole new set of specifications is a HUGE change!  TasRoads is upto speed with VicRoads so we can hit the road running with you. Lets embrace the change to make sure the transition from the old to new is as seamless as practically possible.

TranEx is qualified under the VicRoads pre-qualification scheme for general works, guardfence (G2) level.

TranEx began in September 2004. Our history isn’t long, it’s strong. Life wasn’t meant to be easy, and as a certain Navy SEAL says “do something that sucks every day. It’ll make you a strong”.

History in a flash

  • 2004 TranEx Equipment starts as a sign manufacturing company in Tasmania
  • 2005 TranEx Equipment gains DIER accreditation (TAS Government)
  • 2006 TranEx Equipment launches a website…yes that’s right a buy-online website;).
  • 2007 TranEx Equipment changes name to TranEx Group to incorporate new brands.
  • 2008 The TranEx Barriers rand is introduced, completing minor guardrail bridge jobs, repair works, etc in Tasmania.
  • 2009 TranEx Barriers “scales-up” to complete major state-government funded projects in Tasmania
  • 2010 TranEx Barriers is introduced in Victoria.
  • 2011 TranEx Group gains VicRoads accreditation (Vic Roads). TranEx Barriers is introduced in South Australia.
  • 2012 TranEx Barriers is introduced in New South Wales & Queensland
  • 2013 StreetSmart brand is launched. The portable traffic light hits the Australian market. Major guardrail projects completed by Team TranEx for TMR (QLD Government).
  • 2014 TranEx launches a new brand for a new era. TasRoads. TranEx Barriers complete major guardrail projects in Western Australia and Northern Territory for Roy Hill mine and Thiess.
  • 2015 TranEx gains ISO 9001, AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 14004 Certification
  • 2016 TranEx Group expands with another new brand “TranEx Solar” to add to accompany: TasRoads, StreetSmart and TranEx Barriers. TranEx Group wins contractor CCF award for Tasmania.
  • 2017 The possibilities are endless
